The NASP Quarterly: Winter '05 Edition

From the Editor
Another year, another Tony Patterson National Championship.

This 2004 title makes it number five for Patterson. It's hard to even to justice to this amazing accomplishment with mere words. Patterson's run goes beyond a dynasty and is really just pure domination. Few other teams or individuals in organized sports have been able to accomplish such a feat.

We are watching a legend in action and should appreciate this once in a lifetime opportunity.

"You know it's hard to be humble at a time like this. I know it's what I'm supposed to do, but I just can't contain myself. I'm too good. My skills are too great. I'm more impressive than Ali in his prime. I am a god in this sport and people should bow down before me,"said and exuberant Patterson during the celebration of his fifth title.

Patterson defeated Kensington Montgomery III to take home his fifth medal.

The Heart of a Champion: An exclusive sit down with Tony Patterson
By Mark Chipwood

Following his 2004 National title I was able to catch up with Tony Patterson in his hometown of Amarillo, Texas and ask him a few questions about championships, love and jujitsu.

Me: Tony, congratulations your latest championship, how does it feel to win five straight?

Tony Patterson: It feels good, it feels damn good. It feels as good as getting a massage from one of those sexy Asian ladies with the oils and stuff.

Me: This makes five National Championships, what's the secret to your success?

TP: Hard work and talent. The fact of the matter is that I'm just blessed. I'm just blessed with more talent than most people.

Me: How do you respond to critics who say you've taken to much credit for the rise of Pro Staredown?

TP: I say without Tony Patterson there is no Pro Staredown. The NASP may exist, but not as it does today. Every sport needs a champion, a hero if you will, that brings that sport to the people. I am that champion.

Me: I've got to ask, because our female readers are dying to know, is there anybody special in your life right now?

TP: Come on now Mark, you know I've got a few special people all the time.

Me: Anyone extra special?

TP: Mark, are you coming on to me? Just kidding. No there's no one really too special now, although there is this one girl I've got my eye on. Her name's Crissy Smithfield. You know her?

Me: That's Philip Rockhammer's girlfriend right?

TP: You know it boss. We met once, there was a connection, I felt it immediately. One day she'll realize what she's missing by staying with that dweeb Rockhammer.

Me: Does the trash talking ever end with you?

TP: Never.

Me: There's a rumor on the street now that your into Brazilian jujitsu. Are you thinking about leaving Staredown anytime soon?

TP : BJ, as I like to call it, is just a hobby. Staredown will always be my true love, but I am pretty lethal now.
