Apparently the ranks of Professional Staredown is growing, at least that is according to the latest numbers out of the NASP offices.
Competitors at The Rocky Top Rumble in Knoxville, TN from 32 last year to 54 this year. The same was true for “The Biggest Little Staredown Tournament in the World” in Reno, NV, where the competitive field rose nearly 45% over last year.
There was a significant rise in attendance as well.
Asked what he saw as the main reason for this, Ernie Armstrong replied, “People keep saying it's due to ”Unflinching Triumph“ and don't get me wrong I'm willing to give credit where credit is due, but I'm more inclined this has been more of a result of the hard work and dedication of the entire NASP organization.”
Although others seem to disagree.
”This is 100% without a doubt a result of that movie,” quipped Reno competitor Peter McCallister. “Last year we had like ten people here, now there's close to 100. I mean I'm no Einstein, but the math seems pretty clear to me.”
Whatever the reason, this writer is just happy to see that Staredown is finally getting a hold in the American sports conscious.
