"Triumph" Takes Unflinching Look At Staredown

As many of you already know a documentary about the sport of staredown has been made. Directed by J.R. McCord, "Unflinching Triumph: The Philip Rockhammer Story" tells the tale of last years NASP Champion and the tumultuous 2005 NASP National Championships.
According to J.R McCord, the director, "From the minute I was introduced to staredown, I knew I had to make a film about this. The passion with which these competitors have in there hearts for this sport is undeniable. To me it was at once poetic and valiant and something I had to share with the rest of the world."
Originally McCord intended to follow legendary staredown figure, Tony Patterson. But after a few tense interview sessions his plans changed.
"I just got feed up with Patterson and his antics. Besides constantly calling me Korean, which I'm not," said McCord, "Tony just isn't a very pleasant person to be around for any extended period of time."
Instead McCord decided to follow then unknown staredown athlete, Philip Rockhammer.
"Philip has the heart of a champion. His life is complex and interesting and I really had the feeling this Championship was something Philip desperately needed."
When asked to comment about "Unflinching" 5 time NASP National Champion, Tony Patterson said it was "stupid."
To tell the story of an underground sport, McCord seems like the perfect fit as he is a bit of an outsider himself. His "fuck Hollywood" mentality hasn't made him many friends in the movie industry.
The following is an expert from McCord's manifesto:
"My plan is to use the power of the Internet to create an entirely new and completely free distribution model for movies. My goal is not money, but instead entertainment and I will go to great lengths to make sure this movie is available to all free off charge. Now that the movie is released I urge you to download it, rip it, burn it and share it. You have my permission, PIRATE THIS MOVIE."
True to his word, the whole movie is available to watch for free at Unflinchingtriumph.com.
Although none of us at the NASP claim to be film critics, we all give "Unflinching Triumph" two big thumbs up.
