After Second Incident in Birmingham, Commissioner Stands Firm on Instant Replay
Following the controversial finish at The Birmingham Classic, where Stuart Cormier gained his first points of the season, Commissioner Ernie Armstrong once again refused to admit instant replay into NASP protocol.
"Listen, this sport is played by humans and governed by humans," claimed Ernie, "and it's just part of the game. Good or bad."
The controversy centered around a supposed blink by Cormier in his final match against Andrew Weston.
The incident reminded many of the incident last year in Austin involving Rockhammer and Patterson. Although Weston never moved, many in the crowd claimed to have seen a blink and caused a ruckus.
"Some people claim he blinked," answered Weston, "I saw his eyes move, but I'm not exactly sure if he blinked."
"He blinked, I swear," said avid staredown fan Jim Canton of Mobile, Alabama.
"I definitely didn't blink," replied Cornier, a native of Quebec, "It was part of a move I've been developing, and I'm sorry if it caused some confusion, but the refs definitely made the right call."
Regardless if it was another missed blink or part of a legal move, it seems that the Commissioner is going to have some difficult decisions to make in the future.
